Smiths proud to put out 3 teams

Along with success for the first XV over the weekend of the 11th March  saw Smiths Rugby field 2nd and 3rd teams.  Smiths are continuing to grow as a club and are proud to be able to have over 50 players involved on a Saturday.

The second team played away to Hardwicke & Quedgeley RFC and were frustrated to lose 28-19.  Scores from Nathan Peck, Tom Allen and Toby Francis were added to by the boot of Oli Pritchett.  Quick play was the source of Smiths’ tries until halted by some questionable refereeing.  Smiths did well to keep playing rugby under difficult circumstances and although prevented from getting the win it was another lesson learnt in their development.

Smiths 3rd XV welcomed Minchinhampton 3rd XV to the Prince of Wales Stadium and enjoyed a match played in a truly social spirit.  With both teams eschewing kicks at goal, Smiths won 30-15.  Tim Lane (2), Alan Howard, Alex Ford, Jason Burge and James Mobley grabbing the tries.

With a great facility provided by The Cheltenham Trust and a coaching set up that many County teams would be envious of, Smiths welcome players of any ability and experience.  Training is on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7pm.  Please contact the club at smithsrfc@gmail.com for more information or just turn up!
